WITH just three balls to spare Thirsk beat Sessay in the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League first division.

Sessay totalled 118-6 led by opener Robbie Fountain’s 41. James Wilkinson returned 3-32, but Richard Kirby bowled the most economical spell – 1-9 from five overs.

Thirsk’s reply was led by 33 from Mark Cook, and Ryan McKendry’s unbeaten 47, despite Tom Wilkinson’s 3-30.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge also lost ground after defeat at Dringhouses, whose score of 97-4 was easily overtaken by the hosts, for whom opener Chris Storey was outstanding with an unbeaten 56.

Acomb came out on top when the second division’s joint leaders met at Sheriff Hutton.

For the visitors, Joe Dale (50 retired), Sam Lingard (52 ret), Martin Pepper (26no) and Aidan Burton (25) excelled in a 166-2 total.

Rich Reynolds hit 32 in the reply, but lacked support as the hosts closed on 108-8. Adam Coulson returned 4-17.
