Clifton Alliance came a cropper at home to Pilmoor Evening Cricket League first division champions of 2011, Sessay.

The hosts reached 100-3 with Nick Hindle making 38 and Ryan Partington 25. Mark Jackson was the pick of the accurate Sessay attack with 2-21.

The visitors won with some ease as skipper Robbie Fountain (23), Matthew Wass (31) and Chris Till (24 not out) steered them to victory at 101-3 in 13 overs.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge batted first at Crayke and found themselves in difficulty against the youthful opening attack of Sam Peel and Liam Leckenby.

Peel returned 3-29 and Leckenby 2-18, but Bridge recovered through Alec Snowball, who made 25 and were eventually all out for 100 with John Dey (2-18) and Ian Pocklington (3-27) having further success for Crayke.

The home reply was in difficulty from the start as Danny Cass (3-10) and Jamie Hopper (2-6) made early inroads.

Once Graeme Dawson fell for 15, the innings faded away to 35 all out, J Overton (2-5) and T Coyle (2-14) completing the home demise.

Newburgh were hugely indebted to the Banks brothers when they took the points from a close match with Dringhouses.

James made an unbeaten 60 and Tom 31 as Newburgh posted a challenging 135-6. Jacob Green (2-41) and Elliot Shiers (2-38) took the bowling honours for ’Houses.

Openers Chris Storey and Lewis Chipchase started well, but after Chipchase went for 29 and Storey for a fine 66, the reply laboured against Tom Banks (2-29) and Dave Taylor (3-29) to close ten runs short of victory on 126-7.

The closest finish came at Helperby, where Thirsk emerged victorious by just one run.

Ryan McKendry (56) and Mark Nursey (24) underpinned Thirsk’s 127-6, while Dan Marston impressed with 3-15.

Matt Cavanagh (39) and Tom Coates (25) showed well in the reply as Helperby were left needing 12 for victory from the final over.

This was reduced to just two from the last ball, but a run-out secured the narrowest of victories for Thirsk.

Sheriff Hutton kept up their challenge with a comfortable win at Rowntrees.

Put in to bat, Sheriff posted 133-6 with Richard Reynolds making 44 and Geoff Schofield 33. Peter Edmondson took 2-25 and B Zannar 2-20.

The reply was led by Chris Todd with 29, but never seriously threatened and closed on 98-5.

The Civil Service batsmen shone in making 124-2 at Easingwold, where Will Phelps (53 ret), Peter Noble (33 not out) and Graeme Sherlock (19 not out) all excelled. Max Cosgrove snaffled the only two wickets to fall at a cost of 20 from five overs.

An opening partnership of 82 between Dan Copeland (47) and Andrew Metcalfe, who retired on 51, was the foundation of the Easingwold triumph.

Batting first against neighbours Huby, Stillington totalled 115-5 with Jack Cartwright (38 not out) and Doug Ramsay (21) their main contributors.

Oliver Lawrence took 2-11 for Huby, whose reply was based on 51 ret from Steven Piercy.

Doug Ramsay (2-24) and Karl Simpson (3-26) kept the outcome in the balance but Iain Varney (22 not out) secured the points for Huby from the last ball.
