SHERIFF Hutton Bridge lost their 100 per cent record in division one of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League when they were heavily beaten at Clifton Alliance.

Opener Paul Scaling made 49 but his colleagues struggled against David Friend (3-20), Jason Gatus (2-21) and Allan Barton (2-17) as the innings closed on 98-8.

Clifton then cruised to 99-0 in the 13th over, Gatus making 49 not out and Nick Hindle 45 not out.

Leaders Thirsk also won by ten wickets when they entertained Crayke.

The visitors struggled to 57-6 with R Kirby claiming 3-16, then Keiran Fenwick headed Thirsk’s reply with an unbeaten 44 as the hosts won in the 12th over.

Newburgh reached 83-6 batting first against Sessay, with Rob Proudley (36) and Tom Banks (24) the main contributors. Tom Wilkinson claimed 4-22.

Matthew Wass struck an unbeaten 50 as Sessay won with 88-2 with time to spare. Chris Till supported with 18 not out.

Helperby were the only side to defend a total in division one as they beat hosts Dringhouses.

T Coates (28) top-scored in Helperby’s 103-8, while Tom Storr took 3-29 and Tim Owen 2-15.

Andrew Kenyon made 43 as Dringhouses reached 66-1, but Helperby strangled the response at 90-5, despite Martin Scott’s 25 not out.

In division two, Acomb had a comfortable victory at Huby.

Steven Piercy made 30 and Thomas Piercy 18 as Huby closed on 80-7, with Jack Woodworth taking 2-1. A Burton (31no) and M Pepper (41no) took Acomb to 81-1 in 12 overs.

Alne also won easily when they entertained Rowntrees. John Dowd made 26 for the York side, but Brad Scott (2-14), Toby Stirk (2-9) and Jonathan Henley (3-6) restricted them to 89-7.

Tom Shaw (35no) and Nick Johnston (53no) then took Alne to the points at 92-0 in ten overs.

Sheriff Hutton posted 121-6 against Easingwold, with Geoff Schofield making 50 retired, with support from David Hull (28).

Harry Elliott took 3-32 and Josh Greenlay with 2-35 for Easingwold, whose reply was led by Jamie Metcalfe’s 49 but fell short on 87-8. David Hull claimed 2-24 and Richard Ainley 3-6.

Stillington tied with visitors Civil Service. Service made 98-8 with Travis Crouch hitting 29 and Will Phelps 22. Doug Ramsay took 5-17. Matthew Coulson (36no) took two from the last ball of the game to secure a tie at 98-6.
