Pilmoor Evening Cricket League round-up
11:37am Wednesday 29th June 2011 in Pilmoor League
The Pilmoor Evening Cricket League season moved into its second half with rain wiping out the entire first division programme.
However, of the four second division games completed, Dringhouses maintained their stranglehold over that division with an eighth straight win.
Visitors New Earswick batted first and posted a respectable 108-6 led by Chris Smith (40), Mark Benson (24) and Mike Noble (30). Andrew Kenyon took 2-4.
The consistent Lewis Chipchase (50 retired) and Sam Lingard (46) steered Dringhouses to victory at 110-1 in the 13th over.
Hosts Acomb made 132-3 against Huby. The men in form were Matt Williams (50 ret), Dan Littlewood (34) and Andrew Green (30). Huby never got to grips with their task as Matt Dale took 1-7 from four overs. They eventually closed on 82-5 with Dan Grainger making 21 and Sean Dixon 19 not out.
Struggling Rowntrees batted first against Sheriff Hutton and were shot out for 34, primarily by David Hull’s ace 5-6. Chris Gartland countered with 2-11, but Sheriff won comfortably enough at 38-3 in the 12th over.
The only game to take place outside of York was at Raskelf against Civil Service.
Raskelf batted first and were all out for 95, Angus Taylor top-scoring with 20 against Nick Taylor (2-10), Will Phelps (2-20) and Travis Crouch (2-36).
Sam Porter and Taylor then held the visitors in check with accurate five-over spells, Porter having the excellent return of 3-7, while Taylor took 2-19.
Civil Service closed on 68-7 with T Crouch 23 not out.
