Rain puts dampener on Pilmoor evening fixtures
10:46am Wednesday 22nd June 2011 in Pilmoor League
THE Pilmoor Evening Cricket League season reached the halfway stage with the weather having its first major impact on the campaign.
Early evening rain wiped out six fixtures and allowed minimal play in another. Only the division two fixtures at Dringhouses and Civil Service were completed.
The only play possible in division one was at Sheriff Hutton Bridge, where Clifton Alliance were 16-1 when rain called a halt after three overs.
In division two, leaders Dringhouses strengthened their hold on top spot with a victory over Raskelf.
Raskelf batted first and made 112-6, with Robert Sigsworth (38) and Richard Brown (28) showing up well, while Eliot Shires took 2-34 for Dringhouses.
Danny Snaith, with 33, and John Patrick, with an unbeaten 44, were then prominent in the home reply which concluded on a successful 115-3 after 12 overs.
Dringhouses now lead the division by five points and are the only team in the league still boasting a 100 per cent record.
Civil Service batted first when they entertained Sheriff Hutton and made 89-7.
Alex Ingram top-scored with 29 while Richard Ainley took 2-19 for Sheriff. Charlie Foster made 26 and Geoff Schofield hit 38 not out as Sheriff eased to victory at 90-1.
