EASINGWOLD and Newburgh tied their Pilmoor Evening Cricket League clash after a dramatic 20-over contest.

Easingwold batted first and Paul Skilbeck made more than half his side’s score, contributing 58 as they were all out for 109. Dave Taylor (4-26) and Jason Sargent (3-10) starred for the visitors. Newburgh’s reply got off to a good start through Charles Ramsay and Rob Proudley, but after Ramsay was unluckily run out for 25, Easingwold hit back with Tommy Langstaff taking wickets regularly, including Proudley for 32.

Jason Sargent (18) looked set to win the game for Newburgh, but he was run out by Kevin Smith off the last ball of the 20th over and Newburgh were all out for 109. Langstaff finished with 5-22.

Sessay moved into second place with a nine-wicket win at Crayke, who were all out for 37, while leaders Thirsk saw their game against Sheriff Hutton Bridge postponed.

Sheriff Hutton relinquished the leadership of division two when they were beaten at Stillington.

Sheriff posted a respectable 156-5 with Joel Wilford making 53 and Geoff Schofield 50. Karl Simpson took 2-21 for the hosts.

Simpson then hit 33 to add to 47 from Jamie Metcalfe as Stillington won at 160-6 with two balls to spare.

Helperby also stepped up their challenge with a win over Raskelf. Jonno Cannon (30) and Joe Corner (26) saw Helperby to 129-9, while Steven Burn took 3-27 and Angus Taylor 3-33.

Raskelf struggled to 66-9 as Joe Kinsella took 3-5.
