HELPERBY were relegated from division one on the final day of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League season.
The village side were beaten by Easingwold in a relegation decider and they will be replaced in the top-flight by division two champions Crayke.
Martin Piercy hit 72 in Easingwold’s 133-4 and, although John Tuley made 65, Helperby’s effort closed on 113-9.
Champions Thirsk were well beaten when they played host to Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
Bridge ran up the highest total of the season when they made 171-4, with Brendan Ledgeway making 75 and Adam Fisher 43.
Understrength Thirsk were bowled out for 75 as Bridge consolidated their runners-up spot.
Acomb beat Newburgh by 16 runs, with Scott Nicholls hitting 38 in their 112-6. Newburgh closed on 96-8.
Sessay closed with a big win over Clifton Alliance. Jacob Spencer made 62 and Nick Thorne 47 in Sessay’s 165-4 and Clifton closed on 65-9.
Crayke clinched the division two title with a win over Rowntrees.
Rowntrees closed on 60-8 and Simon Lewis (20no) and Eric Watson (39no) took Crayke to a ten-wicket win.
Stillington finished as runners-up after they beat Civil Service.
Mike Kay retired on 51 in Stillington’s 114-9, with Phil Northing taking 3-23 for Civil Service.
Will Phelps led the Service reply with 42 not out, but Wayne Linton’s 4-5 saw them close at 100-9.
Raskelf saved their best to last when they beat Sheriff Hutton by eight wickets.
Sheriff made 87-5 and Raskelf took the points at 88-2, with Kevin Phillips hitting 40.
Alne concluded their season with a win over Huby.
