Thirsk’s lead at the top of the first division of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League was cut to four points when they lost at home to Sessay.
Sessay batted first at Thirsk and their total of 107-7 owed much to 61 from Matthew Till. Stuart Christon (2-19) and Ross McAndrew (2-5) had most success for Thirsk.
The reply laboured against Stuart Peirse and James Easton’s tight bowling. The first seven overs yielded only ten runs.
Don Whitelaw (28) and John Cook (37) then got things moving, but their efforts were in vain as Thirsk closed five runs adrift on 102-6, Dean Watson taking 2-33 for Sessay.
In the second division, Huby posted 104-7 against Crayke, for whom Jamie Perkins (51 retired) and Adam Fairhurst (48) starred in a winning 107-2 reply.
