Despite dull and drizzly conditions play was possible in four of the eight scheduled fixtures in the latest round of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League.
Thirsk extended their lead at the top of the first division to four points by beating Helperby, while nearest rivals SHB and Newburgh were inactive.
At the foot of the table, Clifton Alliance took their first points of the season and are now just a point behind Helperby.
In the second division, the top of the table clash between Crayke and Stillington was rained off, but Alne continued their recent good run and are now coming into contention.
Helperby’s batsmen struggled when they took first innings at Thirsk.
Only Joe Kinsella, who made 26, made any real progress against Ben England (2-17), Stuart Christon (3-21) and Jake Petty (3-11), and the visitors were all out for 80.
When Thirsk replied, Ryan McKendry fell to Dan Marston off the first ball of the innings, but any hopes Helperby had were quickly extinguished by Tom Polkinghorne and Anthony Elders.
They took total command and led Thirsk to 82-1 in just eight overs, Elders making 48 not out and Polkinghorne 31 not out.
Clifton Alliance took first innings at Acomb and posted a challenging 148-3.
Jason Gatus (38), Jon Gilham (35) and Alex Renton (26 not out) contributed the bulk of the score, while Sam Dodds took 2-22 for Acomb.
The home reply was checked by Bob Taylor (3-17) and Alastair Wray (3-21), and, although Harry Booth made 29 and Matt Williams 18, Acomb closed well short on 110-8.
There was no play at Sheriff Hutton Bridge, where Easingwold were due to be the visitors, and at Newburgh who were due to entertain Sessay.
In the second division, Alne won their fourth consecutive match at Sheriff Hutton.
The hosts batted first and were all out for 103, youngster David Hull making 20, while Alne’s most successful bowlers were James Ash, who took 3-24, and Toby Stirk, who took 4-8.
Ross Hardy led Alne’s reply with 51 (retired) and Will Myers added 33 as Alne won at 108-2.
Civil Service were the other winners at Rowntrees.
Graham Sherlock made 28 and Will Phelps made 27 as Civil Service posted 103-5, Sam Gall (2-19) and Dominic Atkinson (2-7) having the best returns for Rowntrees.
Chris Todd was Rowntrees’ leading scorer with 25, but his colleagues were undermined by J Taylor (3-22) and they closed on 81-6.
There was no play in the fixtures at Raskelf, who were due to entertain Huby, and at Crayke where table-topping Stillington were due.
