SHERIFF Hutton Bridge and Helperby lead the way in division one of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League with three wins out of three.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge's good start to the season continued with a 30-run victory at Clifton Alliance.

David Speake (30) and Dan Clipstone (29) did most to take them to 106-4, with Lewis Clark taking 2-15 for the hosts.

Jordan Grose (2-21) undermined the home reply and Alliance closed well short on 76-6.

Helperby maintained their 100 per cent start by the narrowest of margins when they entertained Sessay.

Helperby took first innings and posted 109-7, with Matthew Cavanagh making 23 and Peter Orton 35. Stephen Langstaff took 3-23, Mark Jackson 2-27 and skipper James Easton 2-24.

In reply, Sessay saw contributions from Paul Flintoff (22), Toby Wells (20) and Nick Thorne (17). Mark Spilman took 3-30 and Sessay needed seven off the last over only to close on 108-7.

Promoted Sheriff Hutton made 147-4 batting first at home to Newburgh. Dave Taylor (3-25) made early inroads for Newburgh, but a century stand between Geoff Schofield (50no) and Andy Frank (63) put them in control.

The visitors closed on 77-8, only Jason Sargent (25) having any answer to David Hull (2-8), Eddie Hull (3-8) and 14-year-old Josh Ainley, who claimed 1-17.

Thirsk had a comfortable victory against visiting Alne. Stuart Christon hit 32, John Owens 25 and Mark Cook 27 not out as they reached 142-3. Ross McAndrew (3-18) and Thomas Hogg (2-3) reduced Alne to 82-9.

Rowntrees & Huntington lead division two after two victories in three days, over Raskelf and Huby.

In their 35-run success at Raskelf, David Ward and Jack Hugill each made 19 as they posted 90-7, James Bishop taking 4-27.

Rob Sigsworth led the Raskelf reply with 29 but they were all out for 55, Darren Hosford (4-9) and Phillip Thompson (2-13) doing most of the damage.

The York side followed up with a narrow victory over Huby. Ward (21) and Hugill (21) were again the top scorers as they made 99-6, Ollie Tanner-Smith (2-17) and Josh Robertshaw (2-13) doing well for Huby.

Huby had lost at home to Easingwold earlier in the week. The visitors made 134-5 with 51 retired from Paul Skilbeck, 27 from Max Cosgrove and 23 from Rowan Capper. Robertshaw took 2-40 for Huby.

Rob Steel (25) and George Elliot (43) kept the hosts ni contention, but youngsters Cosgrove (3-29) and Capper (2-31) displayed their all round skills as Huby closed ten runs short on 125-7.

Acomb posted 140-4 at home to Easingwold thanks to Matt Williams(23), Joe Dale (33), Martin Pepper (42no) and Aidan Burton (18no). Cosgrove claimed 2-23.

Mark Mierzwinski (35) and Kyle Waite (44) set Easingwold on their way, but Williams (2-21) and Mark Williamson (2-7) limited them to 122-7.

Raskelf recorded their first win of the season at Crayke, who fielded five father and son pairings in their line up.

Rob Galtrey (42), Rob Sigsworth (40) and Simon Davill (21) were all in the runs for Raskelf as they totalled 138-9, youngsters Jamie Pocklington (3-26) and Joe Wright (3-20) having creditable returns for Crayke.

The home reply closed on 43-6 with James Bishop taking 2-15.

Civil Service picked up the points from a concession as Crayke were unable to field a team and they followed up with a win over New Earswick.

Civil Service made 117-8, Dan Dodds making 27, Will Phelps 21 and Andrew Luff 43. In reply, New Earswick closed on 111-9, David Rodgers making 33. Their cause was not helped by three run outs.
