SESSAY are one win away from claiming the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League division one title.

The leaders remain three points clear with two matches remaining after a nine-wicket win at Dringhouses.

The hosts made 101-8, with Tom Owen hitting 56 and Tom Storr 22 not out as James Easton took 2-18, Tom Wilkinson 2-28 and Luke Ramsay 2-25.

Nick Thorne made a rapid 22 in Sessay’s reply, before Matthew Wass (55no) and Ramsay (22no) carried them to 105-1 after 12 overs.

Thirsk kept their hopes alive by winning a low-scoring encounter at Clifton Alliance. Thirsk were all out for 73, with James Wilkinson scoring 16 while L Green took 4-8 and claimed four catches.

Thirsk hit back strongly and bowled the hosts out for 48, Wilkinson claiming 4-9 and Stuart Christon 3-4.

Helperby also stayed in the hunt with a win over Alne. Helperby’s 124-7 included runs by George Swiers (37), Alex Clayton (28) and Jamie Allen (23), as Sean Foulds took 2-32 and Toby Stirke 2-36.

J Norton made 47 as Alne were bowled out for 102 by Charles Grassby (3-21), Luis Rees-Hughes (3-20) and Joe Corner (2-22).

Sheriff Hutton Bridge were seven wicket winners over Newburgh.

Newburgh were held to 103-9 by Jonnie Eleanor (3-30) and Taylor Coyle (3-19), with James Banks making 28. Steve Crowder’s 55 not out led Bridge to 106-3 after Tom Banks had taken 2-22.
