IT was all change at the top of both divisions as the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League season reached the half way point.

Thirsk replaced Sessay in pole position in division one after winning their table-topping clash.

Sessay batted first and were given a good start by skipper Matthew Wass (49) and Paul Flintoff (29), who put on 69 for the first wicket.

The middle order failed to capitalise as Thirsk hit back through Jake Petty (2-10) and Mark Nursey (3-26) and Sessay closed on 104-5.

Thirsk’s reply was led by Kieran Fenwick (29) and Mark Nursey (40) and, although Mark Jackson took 2-29, Ben England saw Thirsk home with seven balls to spare with an unbeaten 29.

Helperby had a convincing win at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

The hosts batted first and only opener Ian Clish (47) had any real answer to Helperby’s Charlie Crosby (3-35) and Dan Marston (3-15).

Helperby openers Lane Tutty (44no) and Peter Orton (37) then spearheaded a nine-wicket win with more than five overs to spare.

Newburgh won by nine wickets against visitors Alne, who batted first and posted 118-5, with Eddie Myers hitting 30 and James Belli 39 not out.

Jason Sargent took 2-35 for Newburgh, whose reply was based on a century partnership between openers Tom Banks (53) and Charles Ramsay (58no).

Clifton Alliance moved up the table with a 94-run victory at Dringhouses. Their imposing total of 185-2 owed much to an unbeaten 122 from Joe Ashdown, while Niall Tilsley was 34 not out.

Although Lewis Chipchase made 25, Dringhouses closed on 91-7.

Division two leaders Easingwold slipped up at home to New Earswick.

Chris Smith made 31 at the top of the order for the visitors, and an unbroken partnership between Luke Whittaker (41no) and Adam Hewitson (44no) lifted them to 133-3.

Although Andy Metcalfe made 44, spinner Martyn Hewitson took 2-5 and Toby Reeson 4-12 as Easingwold closed on 94-9.

Sheriff Hutton are the new leaders after beating Raskelf.

Sam Porter’s unbeaten 31 carried Raskelf to 85-5, with Richard Ainley taking 2-4.

Jag Gopalappa then hit 44 as they cantered to a seven-wicket victory.
