Chris Suddaby’s unbeaten 67 helped Woodhouse Grange to a 17-run win over rivals Stamford Bridge to seal a record 11th Foss Evening Cricket League division one title.

Woodhouse set Stamford a victory target of 113 and Will Parker hit 54 but was castled by Tom Young (2-22 from four overs) as Grange skipper Andrew Bilton celebrated a second championship in three years.

Osbaldwick ended Heworth ’s recent run of form as Alex Rippon (4-8) and a hat-trick from Matty Hattee (3-19) bundled the Elm Park Way side out in 14 overs for 56.

Osbaldwick skipper Mike Hattee made light work of the chase with an unbeaten 44 as his side reached the target in the tenth over for an eight-wicket success.

Dunnington claimed a six-wicket victory over York, a result that keeps them in a three-way fight for third place in the final week. York made 119-7 thanks to Nick Stephens’ 39, while Jack Bolam took 4-12 in three overs. Adam Sutcliffe was then Dunnington’s batting hero with 73.

Pocklington again conceded, this time against Westow, to ensure they will finish rock bottom.

There were no completed matches in division two as the games at Bubwith and The Retreat were rained off in the second innings, while Stockton & Hopgrove and Aviva were given walkovers. The outcome means that Stockton and Londesborough Park are both promoted and both can still win the title next week.

Park made 140-5 at Bubwith with James Hanley making 57. Rain halted proceedings with 28 balls left when Bubwith were 91-3 with skipper Rich Readman unbeaten with 67. The Retreat’s match against Yapham was also evenly poised when the rain hit with nine overs still to play. Yapham made 87-5 in 20 overs and Retreat were 41-3 after 11 overs.

Aviva’s two points from a walkover against struggling Thixendale mean they still have a chance of avoiding relegation, they are now only a point behind Bishopthorpe . Stockton & Hopgrove did not need to pick up a bat in anger to seal their place in the top echelon for the first time as Bishopthorpe conceded.

A five-wicket haul from Ovington’s B Svenson (5-10) ensured the Little Knavesmire side were promoted from division three. Retreat II crawled to 62-8 in 20 overs and Ovington knocked the runs off for no loss in just 13 overs.

Melbourne picked up a ninth straight win in completed matches to hold the second promotion spot going into the final round.

Freddie Collins made 52 as Melbourne set 124-7 with Chris Copeland taking 3-15 for Askham Bryan. Copeland hit an unbeaten 53 as Askham made 92-0 in reply.

Dunnington Academy beat York RI by 40 runs that means their match against Melbourne next week is a winner-takes-all match for the second promotion place.
