Foss League: Alport all powerful to inspire Woodhouse Grange

TEENAGER Ben Alport gutted the York batting line-up with figures of 4-17 as Woodhouse Grange triumphed in the Foss Evening Cricket League.

Woodhouse posted 128-5 thanks to contributions from Tom Young (45), Rob Daniel (35) and Andy Anderson (33). York slipped to 18-5, and despite Rich Love’s 55, a further burst of 3-8 from Chris Bilton saw York all out for 97.

Stamford Bridge carded a nine-wicket win over Westow.

Matty Turnbull made 54 in his side’s 77-7. Slow left-armer Dan Davies took 4-30 and David Craven 2-6.

Will Parker (37no) and Paul Milner (31) knocked off the runs in just 55 balls.

Heworth picked up their first win with a ten-wicket thrashing of Pocklington, who toiled to 76-8 in 20 overs before the men from Elmpark Way eased to the target in 11.2 overs.

Londesborough Park remain the dominant division two force after beating ten-man Bishopthorpe by six wickets. Ben and Joe Shingles bowled well to shoot out the Bishops for 41.

Dunnington Academy are the only unbeaten side left in division three after a rapid seven-wicket victory over Fulfordgate.

The ’Gate total of 74-9 was passed within 11.1 overs led by 23 from Jonny Andrew.
