RAIN wiped out the final week of the Foss Evening Cricket League – ending Londesborough Park’s hopes of division one survival.

Park were consigned to relegation along with Barmby Moor, while Pocklington were spared the drop.

Stamford Bridge had already claimed the league title.

In division two, Osbaldwick were already confirmed as champions, and the washout meant Westow joined them in division one ahead of Stockton & Hopgrove.

Melbourne suffered the same fate as Londesborough, relegated to the bottom tier without being able to fight for a result. Bishopthorpe, The Retreat and Yapham could all breath a sigh of relief as they were all only a point above the boys from the MCG. The division three title shootout was rained off, so Thixendale took the title and Heworth Colts had to settle for second place and promotion.

Foss League officials are already receiving applications for membership in 2012. Any clubs wishing to submit an application should email them to secretary Mike Wellock at garnshaw@msn.com or Kevin Smith, results and press officer, at thegrangekas@hotmail.com
