Stamford Bridge have taken the outright lead in the championship race of the Foss Evening Cricket League with a five-wicket victory over last year’s champions Woodhouse Grange.

A strong opening stand from Paul Milner (48) and Dom Rhodes (34) saw Stamford chase down Grange’s 110-5, Chris Bilton having scored 48 for the Sutton-on-Derwent side.

York moved into second place, their 100 per cent record maintained but still blighted by being docked points.

Liam McKendry (67), Ian Jarvis (39) and Jake Murphy (27) led York to 192-5 at Pocklington. Neil Jackson made 44 as Kalum Ahmed (3-21) was again in the wickets to leave Pock well short on 113-7.

Barmby Moor chalked up their first win of the campaign over a stuttering Heworth. Adrian Stancer’s four sixes in his 50, plus 45 from Sean Houltham, pictured near right, saw Moor to 116-5 from which Arron Solanki took 3-18.

In reply, Barmby’s Martin Davies (4-21) was involved in six of the seven dismissals as only Rich Walton (41) prospered as Heworth made 94-7.

Dunnington moved into the top half of the table with a comfortable victory over Londesborough Park.

Liam Hessay took 3-25 as Park mustered only 87-9. Adam Iyer (31) and skipper Gareth Miles (27) ensured Dunnington did not wobble in winning by seven wickets.

Osbaldwick took the outright lead in division two by beating fellow table-toppers Stockton & Hopgrove.

Jamie Kerrison (35) and Dan Barrett (33) led Stockton to 124-5 as Matt Hattee took 3-20. Again it was Osso skipper Mike Hattee in the runs with an unbeaten 51, counter-acting A Williams’ 3-29, that led his side to a five-wicket win with an over to spare.

Westow’s fourth straight win was a six-wicket effort against The Retreat, who were bowled out for 112 despite Jackson (44) and Salmon (40) making major contributions.

Matty Turnbull’s unbeaten 49 and 28 from B Boyd saw Westow home.

Yapham claimed a penultimate-ball victory against Melbourne thanks to Will Axup’s 64 not out.

Melbourne made 129-7, with Eddie Oliver (43) and A J Clarke (34) in the runs. Martin Pearson (31) was Axup’s main ally in the triumph.

In the battle of the top two in division three, hosts Thixendale produced a thumping victory to claim top spot and end Heworth Colts’ unbeaten record.

Heworth would have been happy with the efforts of H Moorcroft (26), F Coughlin (35) and C Bairstow (27) as they posted 108-5.

However, Nigel French (42 not out) and Ben Shaw (37 not out) knocked the runs off with nearly eight overs to spare in a nine-wicket mauling.

Fulfordgate and York RI played out their second tie in as many seasons.

Liam Hancy (57) was the only batsman to make a major impression on the game as Fulfordgate posted 115-8.

RI ran a bye on the final ball to claim the tie at 115-7.

Dunnington Academy gave a heavy beating to winless Retreat II.

Sam Beavers made 42 as the Academy posted 131-5, despite T Crouch’s three wickets.

Retreat were then bundled out for just 57 as Ted Jones (3-9), Rob Smith (3-12), Sam Blain (2-2) and Jack Spofforth (2-13) were in the wickets.
