Woodhouse Grange claimed a ten-run victory in a fluctuating game at Dunnington to take top spot in Foss Evening Cricket League division one.

Woodhouse got off to a flyer thanks to Tom Quinn (21), but Sam Tattersall (3-29) had his fielders to thank for some good catching. James Rudd’s 35 ensured Woodhouse had 125 to defend. Jack Bolam’s 37 gave Dunnington a chance after a slow start, but three run outs left them short.

Barmby Moor helped Grange to the summit by beating Heworth at Elmpark Way by 22 runs. Heworth’s Andy Bonarius took 4-32, but Barmby posted 99-8 thanks to 24 from Charlie Cameron as he added 40 in the last 27 balls with Martyn Davies. Heworth were restricted to 77-5, despite 50 from their Yorkshire Academy star Jack Leaning.

Stamford Bridge are pulling away from Wheldrake at the bottom of division one after their opponents conceded.

In division two, Pocklington made the most of Yapham’s slip up against Melbourne to go top. Heworth Colts made 117-4 against Pock as Oliver Sherwood hit 35. Pock coasted home with eight wickets to spare as Ash Warner made an unbeaten 50 and Jamie Kember 29 not out.

Melbourne caused a big upset at Yapham, gaining their first victory. Tim Blackmore’s 32, plus 21 apiece from Eddie Oliver and Charlie Lambert, allowed Melbourne to post 129-6, despite Jason Natrass’ 3-23. Yapham fell six runs short despite Alex Gurnell’s 32 and 26 from Martin Pearson.

Londesborough Park had an easy nine-wicket win over The Retreat. The Retreat were blown away for 41 as 14-year-old Greg Drewery took 3-12. Leg-spinner Tom Noble claimed 2-4. Londesborough knocked off the runs in six overs.

In division three, Glenn Howells and Steve Sissons both made 45 as Fulfordgate posted 158-5 against Westow. Sissons then took 3-26 as Westow finished short despite an unbeaten 71 from Matty Turnbull.
