Yapham’s Martin Pearson completed the rare feat of making a hundred in an evening match as his 104 set up a crushing defeat of Heworth Colts to take Yapham back to the top of Foss Evening Cricket League division two.

Pearson’s ton, allied with an unbeaten 64 from Matty Booth, allowed Yapham to post 198-2 in their 20 overs. Despite Joel Johnson’s 49 not out, Heworth Colts fell well short at 107-6 as Alex Natrass took 3-16.

In division one, Woodhouse Grange had a convincing eight-wicket win over title rivals Heworth.

Heworth skipper Rich Winterburn made 48 but the rest of his side could do nothing against 18-year-olds Jake Murphy (4-5), who recorded the season’s best top-flight figures so far, and Harry Collins (4-12). Chris Bilton’s 42 saw Grange home with 21 balls to spare.

Stamford Bridge picked up a nine-wicket victory at Dunnington. Adam Sutcliffe (46) and Rob Chipps (31) led Dunnington to 118-5 with Ollie Pimlott taking 3-13 from five overs. Andy Fraser (71 not out) and David Chaplin (29 not out) made up for an early loss to see Bridge home.

Back in division two, Yapham went top as Pocklington suffered a seven-wicket defeat at The Retreat. John Hughes’ 3-29 and Adam Mosley’s miserly five overs saw Pocklington restricted to 87-9.

Chris Saltmer’s three wickets in his opening over had The Retreat in early trouble at 27-3, but Nad Sadiq (41 not out) and Salman Syed saw Retreat home with no further loss.

Eddie Oliver (34) and Charlie Lambert (31) steered Melbourne to 121-6 in their match against Londesborough Park.

It proved to be nowhere near enough though as Londesborough chased down the target with seven wickets and 17 balls to spare with Callum Robertson (39) and Tom Eagling (25 not out) top scoring for Park.

Fulfordgate’s upsurge in form in the third division continued with a five-wicket win over Thixendale.

Openers Nigel French (34) and Ben Potter (25) added 67 in ten overs for Thixendale in a final total of 112-8. Fulfordgate paced their chase perfectly as Mick Nelson (61 not out) hit a four from the first ball of the last over to seal the triumph.

Westow continue to challenge Stockton & Hopgrove for top spot with a 34 run victory over Dunnington Academy. Ben Holtby (86 not out) and Matty Shipley (42 not out) propelled Westow to 157-1. Dunnington fell short as Westow’s Boyd took four wickets, but a positive for the youngsters was 13-year-old George Wilson making an unbeaten 50.
