HOSTS Fulfordgate snatched a thrilling tie against York RI off the final ball of their Foss Evening Cricket League division three clash.

RI posted 129-6 with G Botterill top-scoring on 48 and Fulfordgate looked to be well out of it when they needed 47 from four overs.

Mick Nelson’s 55 and Glenn Howell’s 19 from seven balls meant five were required from the last over. Tight bowling and two wickets left the hosts needing a scrambled single to earn a point.

Woodhouse Grange kept up the pressure on leaders Heworth in division one with a victory at Stamford Bridge. Grange totalled 153-4 thanks to Andy Anderson (52), Chris Bilton (32) and Chris Suddaby (31).

David Chaplin’s 34 could not stave off a 47-run defeat as Stamford lurched to 106-8.

Heworth maintained their 100 per cent start as Wheldrake conceded.

Dunnington beat hosts Barmby Moor by 13 runs. Adam Iyer made an unbeaten 68 in Dunnington’s 142-3 before taking 3-17 to keep Barmby short of the target. Adie Stancer (31) top-scored for Barmby.

Pocklington reclaimed top spot in division two with a three-wicket win at Londesborough Park. Jamie Kember (37) and Alex Downey (30no) saw Pock to victory with two overs remaining after Mike Drewery (42) had helped Park post 115-7.

After four straight wins Yapham tasted their first defeat, against The Retreat.

Martin Pearson (28) top-scored as Yapham totalled 92 all out, while Adam Mosley took 3-25. Pearson then took 3-17, but Salman Syed (35no) saw The Retreat home by five wickets with 17 balls to spare.

Melbourne posted a competitive 133-6 at Heworth Colts, with Matt Beevers (53) and Eddie Oliver (44) starring. However, Oliver Sherwood (69no) and Will Rymer (42) compiled an opening stand of 94 to lead the Colts to their first win of the season by eight wickets.

The battle of the top two in division three saw Stockton & Hopgrove beat Westow by 26 runs. Stockton’s 161-6 included 53 from Josh Barrett and Matty Turnbull’s 45 for Westow was in vain.

Dunnington Academy beat Thixendale by eight wickets.
