The Tigers made 127-9 despite the bowling of Ben Svenson (3-30) and youngster Op Sorn-in (3-31).

Joe Whale, with an unbeaten 34, was Ovington’s last man standing as they were bowled out for 93 in reply as S Tait took 3-8.

The Retreat II recorded their third victory of the summer, which is likely to ensure winless Heworth Nomads will be wooden spoonists.

The Retreat posted the highest score of the evening, 173-5, as Zaheer Ahmed and Fida Hussain both scored exactly 50 in response to J Ainsworth’s 3-35.

The Nomads batsmen then comfortable negotiated their overs but were never in danger of overhauling the target, finishing at 91-3.

G Davison took 4-22 for Wilton to hold the Colts to 99-8 before Nick Edwards (41) and M Besford (38no) led the Worsendale Roaders home.

The destiny of the division one title is still up in the air after defeats for Woodhouse Grange and York.

Woodhouse lost their first home game of the season after conceding 100-5 in 18 overs against Heworth.

A tidy spell of 2-15 from Chris Suddaby was rectified by the batting of Tom Neal (28no).

Heworth restricted the leaders to 76-9, with only openers Mike Hattee (18) and Matt Durkin (15) making double figures as Martyn Boothroyd took 3-13.

North Dalton’s unbeaten run in division two came to an end at Bishopthorpe, who improved their chances of avoiding relegation.

Shaun Tate (74) and Ricky Woodmansey (50) recorded half-centuries in registering 140-3, Ian Holmes (3-28) claiming all the wickets.

Bishopthorpe’s skipper Scott Clapham hit 82 and Holmes completed a fine all-round match with an unbeaten 21 to lead the Bishops home by five wickets.

Pocklington made the most of Dalton’s stumble, defeating The Retreat by 24 runs, to maintain outside hopes of the title.

Pock’s Alex Downey (31) and vice-captain Andy Anderson (62) scored the bulk of their side's 117 all out as Rohit Virayan took 3-6 and Suranga Uragaha 2-27.

Stockton & Hopgrove sneaked home by one run at Yapham to swap places in the table with their hosts. Stockton posted 111 all out before Yapham replied with 110-7.

Dunnington Academy handed out a heavy defeat to Thixendale, meaning Dale must win at least two of their last three games to have any hope of an immediate return to division three.

Sam Tattersall’s 3-4 in 11 balls and two wickets each for Richard Verrier, Sam Gray and Grant Bulmer bundled out Thix for 59, despite 23 from A Machen.
