York City boss Gary Mills delighted with home FA Cup draw against AFC Wimbledon

MANAGER Gary Mills was delighted to bag a home tie in round one of the FA Cup as York City were paired with League Two rivals AFC Wimbledon.

The sides will meet at Bootham Crescent on the weekend of Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4 - a week before the teams clash in the league at the same venue.

Mills said: "It is always nice when your number comes out first and you are at home.

"We are at home and Wimbledon are in the same league as us, so I think it is a decent draw.

"People will say it could have been worse or it could have been better, but you can't pick and choose who you get.

"We play them again in the league the following week and it gives us both a chance to see how they play. That works both ways.

"We will just be looking to get into the next round of the cup and then concentrate on the league game."

He added: "Wimbledon are third from bottom of the league but it is early days and they have just had a change of manager.

"The FA Cup is always exciting and our aim is to get to the third round."

That'll do nicely. Won't take anything for granted but it's a good chance to progress. After all, us York fans have become accustomed to big days out so hopefully, more of them to come.
