York City boss in good company at awards dinner

YORK City manager Gary Mills will join Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini and Huddersfield Town chief Simon Grayson at a plush awards dinner tomorrow night.

The trio have been recognised for their achievements last season by the northern branch of the Football Writers’ Association.

Mills was chosen following the Minstermen’s historic non-League Wembley double, with Mancini invited after guiding Manchester City to their first top-flight title in 44 years and Grayson present having led Huddersfield to promotion into the Championship.

On the award, Mills said: “It’s recognition for everybody at the club I am picking up that honour and the fact that it coincides with my two-year anniversary at the club is fantastic.”

I see this season we've had negative clap-trappers claiming Mills was lucky, and others questioning the achievements. I agree with the independent commentators who watch sport for a living, that Gary fully deserves recognition for a massive, massive season and massive, massive improvements at our club.
