Dave Sutton signs for old boss at Rochdale

WINGER turned back-row Dave Sutton has signed for Championship One outfit Rochdale.

The 23-year-old was not offered a new deal by York City Knights after two seasons and 39 appearances for the Huntington Stadium club, in which he scored eight tries.

Sutton – who became the youngest landlord of a York pub when taking on the Punch Bowl in Lowther Street – began his career in St Helens’ youth set-up, and will now be coached by Saints’ academy boss, Ian Talbot, who has been seconded to Spotland as Dale’s chief as part of their partnership with the Super League club.
