Duo back as New Earswick All Blacks aim to return to winning ways
11:13am Thursday 18th October 2012 in Sport
New Earswick All Blacks will look to bounce back from defeat when they host Moorends in the Pennine League championship on Saturday.
Defeat at Ackworth left the side firmly in mid-table after five games. Moorends, like Ackworth, have only one win going into the clash. All Blacks welcome back Joe Stearman and Liam Gargan but will be without Jack Sinclair.
New Earswick ‘A’ will look to build on last week’s first victory of the season, over Dearne Valley, when they host Queensbury ‘A’ in division four, though they will be without Mark Tipping due to a fractured eye socket suffered last week.
Selby Warriors, fresh from a week off after last week’s game against Shaw Cross was postponed, go to Greetland Allrounders in division three hoping to emulate their ‘A’ team last week.
The Warriors’ second string, featuring one of the youngest average ages in the club’s history, won 54-4 at the Halifax-based club’s ‘A’ team to claim their first division seven points of term.
The line-up included three 16-year-olds in Rob Howard, who dictated play at scrum-half like a veteran and capped his display with a superb try from his own kick, Jack Randle on the wing, who overcame first-half nerves with some fine runs, and substitute second-row Ben Clarke, who stood out.
Another young gun, Stevie Bell, starred, scoring a superb hat-trick, as did veteran David Makin.
Other scorers were youngster Jacob Scales, old head Nick Weaver, and hooker Jimmy Hanson, who bagged two tries and five goals.
Selby ‘A’ host winless Farnley ‘A’ this Saturday.
New players are still required at Foxhill Lane. Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm.
