York Cricket Club storm to La Manga t20 knockout glory

A THUMPING 153-run victory saw York Cricket Club crowned champions at the Kiss Mix Lady Taverners Charity t20 Tournament at La Manga.

The Clifton Parkers brushed aside final opponents Nation to win the ten-team tournament at the Spanish resort.

Alex Collins smashed 74 in York’s 198-6 and their opponents were skittled for 45 in reply, with skipper Dan Woods taking 4-10 and Glen Richmond 3-23.

In the semi-final, York were 31-run winners over Centrum, restricting their foes to 149-8 chasing 180-4.

Ryan McKendry hit 74 for York, and Duncan Snell made 40.

Earlier in the tournament, York won all three of their knockout matches.

Against Norwegian side Kolsas they totalled 164-6, with Marcus Wood making 45 and Collins 29.

Kolsas were dismissed for 86 as Simon Lambert returned stunning figures of 5-6.

They then defeated the Swiss national team by 90 runs. York’s 164-7 included 45 by Collins and 39 from Snell.

Woods then took 4-10 and Jake Murphy 3-10 as the Swiss were all out for 74.

Against La Manga, Ryan McKendry’s 55 helped them to 146-4 and Wood (4-16) and Lambert (3-18) combined to help bowl out the hosts for 117.
