Hockey: City of York Ladies I triumph over Timperley

WINNING ways were regained by City of York Ladies I with an emphatic 3-0 triumph over Timperley in the North League premier division.

After a couple of attempts, York took the lead from a short corner routine when Sam Binns found Ali Butler on the back post to deflect the ball in.

York doubled their lead with their next attack. Winger Laura Horne slipped the ball to Butler in the ‘D’. She took it wide of the ’keeper to claim her second.

Timperley started to find their feet and put York’s defence under pressure, but alert ’keeper Dawn Hopkins foiled a one-on-one raid and also saved a penalty flick.

In the second half, the match was more evenly paced, but York’s defence was impregnable, while a fast break yielded a third goal via a confidently struck penalty from Lauren Boddison.
