FA Vase boost for Pickering Town

PICKERING Town came from behind against Durham City to secure a spot in the draw for round two of the FA Vase.
The Pikes trailed to Scott Fenwick’s eighth-minute goal at Mill Lane, but striker Liam Salt got the hosts back in the game six minutes later.
Joe Danby struck again for Town on 18 minutes and Salt’s second from the penalty spot on 52 minutes made it 3-1.
The Pikes, who are back in league action at Maltby Main tomorrow (7.45pm), made the game safe with Tom Clarke’s goal 14 minutes from time.
Scarborough Athletic were dumped out 3-2 at Thackley after a last-minute Jordan Missin goal in their first round FA Vase tie.
Thackley led thanks to Brice Tiani’s 36th-minute goal, but Tony Hackworth pulled Scarborough level on the stroke of half-time.
Patrick Miller put the visitors in front on 50 minutes, but Josh Eastwood restored parity before Missin’s late effort.
Tadcaster Albion trounced Ings Lane visitors Arnold Town 4-1 to go seventh in the Northern Counties East League premier division.
The Brewers led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Stuart Rice and Matt Sparkes, while Chris Kamara and Tom Owen hit the target in the second half before Tony Law pulled a late goal back for Arnold.
Taddy could move up another place when they host Hall Road Rangers tomorrow (7.45pm) in one of their games in hand.
Selby Town were held to a 1-1 draw by fellow division one strugglers Eccleshill United at Flaxley Road.
Jamal Shamin gave the Robins a seventh-minute lead, but Brandon Roane levelled for the visitors on 23 minutes.
Knaresborough Town also drew 1-1 at Pontefract Collieries, with Craig Robinson’s own goal giving them a 38th-minute lead before ex-Selby forward Brenton Leister equalised from the penalty spot 13 minutes from time.
Tomorrow (7.45pm), Knaresborough host Teversal and the Robins have a home clash with Hallam.
Harrogate Town shattered Brackley’s unbeaten start to the Blue Square Bet North campaign with a thumping 6-1 home win over the leaders.
Chib Chilaka put the Wetherby Road hosts in front on 24 minutes and on loan York City youngster Tom Platt made it 2-0 on 36 minutes. Glenn Walker hit back for the visitors on 38 minutes, but Harrogate led 4-1 at the break after goals from Paul Beesley and Alan White.
After the break, Beesley got his second on 50 minutes and Danny Forrest got the fifth on 65 minutes.
Harrogate Railway Athletic were beaten 4-0 at fourth-placed Skelmersdale United in Evo-Stik League division one north.
