Barmby Moor move up as leaders lose to Civil Service
10:32am Monday 15th October 2012 in Sport
Barmby Moor are the new leaders of York Minster Engineering Football League division three after a 4-0 home win over Huby.
Nik Palfreyman, Chris Tatterton (2) and Simon Houlder were on target as Barmby maintained their 100 per cent start to the season.
They replace previous pacesetters Rufforth, who went down 5-3 to a Civil Service side enjoying their first away win in more than a year.
Alex Knockles gave Rufforth the lead but James Windle scored four times for the visitors before half-time.
Daniel Whitcombe and Ryan Williamson started a Rufforth revival but a Gareth Innes goal secured the win for Civil Service.
Sporting Knavesmire suffered their first home defeat since March 2011 as they let slip a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2 at home to Bishop Wilton.
Scott Backhouse and Ali Brown shared the Sporting goals with Tom Brown, an own goal and Tom Knowles replying for the visitors. In the bottom of the table clash between Selby Olympia and Elvington, Selby’s Ryan Taylor gifted Harriers’ Alex Martin a goal but then hit a superb volley to secure a 1-1 draw.
A George Trifan hat-trick helped F1 Racing to a 3-0 win at Crayke.
In division four, goals from Jon Wileman (2), Nathan Patrick and Steve Allen helped Selby Town beat Huntington 4-2. Shane Bogg and Aaron Rose responded for Huntington.
Tadcaster Town were 5-0 winners at LNER Builders, with Tom Deighton scoring a brace and Adam Field, Will Leaft and Ricky Longbottom also netting.
York Acorn hit four late goals at Melbourne to seal a 7-2 win.
Connor Larne led the rout with four goals to add to strikes from Dutton brothers Lee (2) and Andy.
Jamie Sellars and Sheridan Fletcher replied for the hosts. When Ben Feathers put Wheldrake in front at Moor Lane it looked like the visitors would end a run of 18 away games without a win, but John Hurst levelled with a penalty and Oliver Craske spoilt the party as Moor Lane ended a six-match winless run with a 2-1 success.
