Selby RUFC in seven heaven at top of Yorkshire Two

A SEVENTH straight win strengthened Selby RUFC’s hold on top spot in Yorkshire Two.

The Swans stormed into a 12-0 lead after three minutes and held a 29-0 advantage at half-time en route to a 43-10 victory over Skipton at Sandhill Lane.

Full-back Dan Porter opened the scoring with an excellent try improved by fly-half Josh Cruise.

That was quickly followed by an Alex Webster effort, but Cruise’s conversion attempt hit an upright.

On 22 minutes, Porter crossed again, and the Swans then profited from two tries in first-half injury time. Hooker Josh Greenfield touched down and the conversion was bagged by Cruise, who then rounded off a superb team try.

The hosts forged further ahead with converted tries from replacement number eight Martin Protheroe and prop Andrew Pocklington. Skipton responded with a try on 68 minutes, and with Selby’s Sam Weller and Webster in the sin-bin, they added a second late score.
