Snooker: David Fazakerley is a World coach
2:50pm Wednesday 10th October 2012 in Sport
Pickering-based David Fazakerley has graduated as a World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association snooker coach.
Fazakerley joined 22 other delegates from as far afield as Finland, Hong Kong and India for two days of intensive training and examination, at the World Snooker Academy, Sheffield.
The course was delivered by six times world champion Steve Davis, together with another ex-world champion Terry Griffiths, who is widely regarded as the game’s top coach.
Fazakerley is available to coach groups or individuals. He can be contacted by email at davidfazakerley147@btinternet for further details.
Meanwhile, Malton Cons ‘C’ beat Pickering Cons ‘C’ 5-1 in a Malton, Norton & District League classic to go top of the table.
Geoff Walker continued his recent good form to beat Domonic Spiteri 79-45, while Steve Turner was in fine form to beat Ken Davison 78-27.
Simon Weatherill and Andy Rouph played one of the best frames the league has seen. Weatherill levelled the scores with a 39 break but missed a black off the spot to leave Rouph with an opening, which he took advantage of with a 30 break. Weatherill, 34 behind, hit back with a 21 break and fluked the pink to leave a thin cut on the black into the middle pocket – which he successfully took on for an 84-80 win.
Romaine Reeves beat Steve Rouph and Roger Ward maintained his form with victory over Dave Dawson.
Champions Pickering Cons ‘A’ drew 3-3 at Malton Cons. Highlights were a 27 break by Lee Taylor, who also equalised in a black-ball pairs frame as he potted the black down the rail.
Pickering Con ‘D’ also drew 3-3 with Malton Cons ‘A’. John Ruston managed a 22 break and M Gardner a 25.
