IN-FORM Michelle Britton was unable to prevent Five Lions from tumbling to defeat against Cueball ‘A’ in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.
Britton fired 140, 112 and three tons in her games for the runners-up, but Cueball recovered from a 4-2 deficit to win all the pairs matches.
Chris Hayward and Beckie Stevens secured victory in the deciding leg.
Champions Cueball ‘B’ suffered the same fate as Lions as, despite a 22-dart leg from captain Tracey Farmeary, they fell to Burnholme skipper Marj Pearson and Lynne Willstrop in the decider.
Sophie Simpson and Carol Perrett led the way for Walnut Tree in an 11-0 victory over Slipper.
Clifton’s Jacquie Richford checked out on 97 – with five, 60 and double 16 – but top-scoring from Tramways captain Sue Lowery and vice-captain Jo Hodges sealed the win.
Runaway division two leaders Castle Howard Ox ‘A’ had a rest week and Bootham Club sealed second place as they cleaned up in the pairs against Severus ‘A’.
Edinburgh Arms beat Leeman ‘B’, who are bowing out of the league after a 20-year stay.
Sammy Endersby won a pairs leg on her own but her Acomb ‘A’ side had already lost to Dick Turpin, Alison King and Pam Bielby taking match points.
Captain Mary Harris and Vicki Rhodes snatched victory for Acomb ‘B’ at Castle Howard Ox ‘B’ after Amanda Harris and Julie Huckle had set up the decider.
Leeman ‘A’ enjoyed a clean sweep in the pairs to beat Woolpack in division three, while Shepherd ‘B’ beat Sun.
Jubilee proved too strong for Burton, who had Dawn Barker involved in both of their points.
Shoulder ‘A’ came out on top against champions Severus ‘B’, with Dawn and Charlotte Scott winning the decisive leg.
There was also a win for Shoulder ‘B’, with Sharon Mountain and Lynn Humble levelling against Shepherd ‘A’ before Gemma Hall and Jodie Dawson won it.
