Darts: Dutch date in bag for board master Terry Temple

WHITWELL-ON-THE-HILL darts ace Terry Temple has booked his place in the field for the Dutch Masters European Tour event in Holland later this month.

Temple was one of 20 UK players to qualify for the Nuland tournament from a 62-strong field at Dublin’s Citywest Hotel.

After receiving a first-round bye, Temple beat Matthew Edgar 6-2 to seal his place.

The top 32 players from the PDC Order of Merit who entered are placed directly into the first round draw, with the 20 UK qualifiers joined by four players from a Home Nation Qualifier and eight from a European qualifier.

Meanwhile, Temple was knocked out of Players’ Championship 13 by Simon Whitlock 6-1 in round two after beating Jim Walker 6-1 in the opening round.

In Players’ Championship 14, Temple reached round three before bowing out 6-0 to beaten finalist Gary Anderson. He ousted Andrew Gilding 6-3 in round one and then Michael van Gerwen 6-4 at the second stage.
