Football: Joshua’s joy as Selby Railway thrash York Phoenix

TEN goals from Joshua Knowles propelled Selby Railway to a 23-0 trouncing of York Phoenix in division four of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League.
Paul Stephenson got four and Janos Tacaks scored a hat-trick, while Dave Hollingshead (2), James Hanson, Danny Oxtoby, Marc Holder and Ian Gresham rounded off the rout.
The game between NUR and Britannia Tadcaster finished 3-3, which was enough to send Brit top on goal difference.
Michael Deery, Chris Duffield and James Burton were the new leaders’ scorers, while NUR’s Danny Cotton took his total to ten in four games with a brace to add to Nicky Fletcher’s goal.
Drax came from a goal down to beat F3 5-3 with a hat-trick from James Barrett. An own goal and a stunning strike by Rob Walkden completed the Drax scoring.
Barlby beat St John 4-2 thanks to a brace from Louis Blackwell, plus a Tom Wright strike and a 35-yarder by Rob Baker. The students’ scorers were Alec Scott and Angus Jones.
Skelton toppled Dunnington 1-0 in division one.
The only game to be played in the top flight was settled by a first half goal from Craig Huggins.
Skelton were then forced to defend as Dunnington pressed forward, but superb performances from goalkeeper Kenzie Nichol and defenders Neale Holmes and Tom Metcalfe secured their first win.
Unbeaten York Medics top division two on goal difference after beating Haxby Lions 4-1.
Lions opened the scoring with a goal from Tom Beattie but Medics made it 1-1 before the break when Luke Thornton hit the target.
Matty Fortnam made it 2-1 and Thornton completed his hat-trick.
Second-placed Hambleton made it three wins out of three when subs Scott Garman and Mark Holman scored in a 2-0 win over Leeman.
Derwent beat Hemingbrough 6-2 with goals from Callum Scott (2), Paul Holder, Dan Fogg, Dean Nuttall and Rob Baker.
Luke Zacharenko and Ricki Hutton hit ’Brough’s replies.
Five Lions moved top of division three after a 6-1 win over basement side Marcia Bishopthorpe.
Chris Harkin grabbed five goals in Albion Vaults’ 11-2 hammering of LNER Builders. Luke Howlett scored twice for the Builders.
York RI beat Brayton 3-2 thanks to strikes from Dale Holding (2) and John Golinger. Brayton’s marksmen were Michael Davison and Jeremy Hall.
