Tennis: York men top of the pile

YORK Tennis Club men’s team went top of Yorkshire League division two by hammering Salts 8-1 at Clifton Park in their final match of the season.

York, who boast a healthy games average, now face a wait to see if they remain top as second-placed Heaton still have Salts to play.

Angus Smith and Andrew Cooke won three rubbers for York, as did Neil Moracy and James Denmark, while Nigel Skelton and Phil Sinton won two.
