Tennis: Double triumph for York women

YORK Tennis Club’s women’s team maintained their good form in division one of the Yorkshire League with a 6-3 home win over Thongsbridge and a 7-2 success at Horsforth.
Wendy Stirke and Louise Lister won all three rubbers against Thongsbridge, with Kathryn Maude and Sarah Dwyer winning two and Caroline White and Julia Lister one.
Against Horsforth, Stirke and Lister again boasted a 100 per cent record, as did Louise Marshman and Jill Rounce, while Karen Reteif and Maude won one.
York end their season at Harrogate Racquets on Sunday, October 14.
