SIGNS that York’s Chokdee Academy is growing in stature as a Thai-boxing force in the north of England have been reinforced.

No fewer than four Chokdee combatants were sent into action on a highly-rated show in Sheepscarr in Leeds and every one of the quartet returned home with worthy wins.

The clanging gang of four were Adam Hoffman, who beat Carl Etchells from the All Power gym in Liverpool; Matt Redding, conqueror of Bradford Pro-Thai fighter P J Reynolds; Graham Snow, who, like his club-mates outpointed his foe, Mike Dagleym another All Power gym fighter; and Janis Timoskins, whose points verdict was gained at the expense of Ash Welby from the AMC gym in south Yorkshire.

The major boost was that both Hoffman and Timoskins were making their competitive Thai-boxing debuts, while Redding has only had two previous fights and Snow just the one before the excursion to Leeds.

The full-house feat delighted Chokdee Academy owner Richard Cadden.

The two-time former world Thai-boxing champion said the success was evidence of how the gym’s ethos of providing the highest-calibre tuition was prospering.

Said Cadden: “All four of our lads were up against opponents who fight regularly on the pro Thai-boxing circuit, so to get four wins shows our aims to offer the best coaching are the right ones.”

All four are due back in action next month.
