Angling: Conditions on Trent test Shepherd best
11:14am Friday 28th September 2012 in Sport
Unlike the Yorkshire rivers, the River Trent was running low and very clear for Shepherd Angling Club rodmen.
Together with bright sunshine and little wind, this made getting bites very difficult.
The winner was Alan Moult with a haul of 2lbs and 13oz which included a 2lb chub.
Second was Peter Webster, who had 30-plus fish making up his weight of 1-15, while third place went to Pete Birch with half a dozen roach for 1-2. Dave Findlay was fourth with 25 fish for only 14oz.
There was some consolation in that England team professionals, practising for their next National Championship on pegs above the Shepherd AC match, also struggled.
