Quest into Press team’s identities

FORMER Middlesbrough Football Club scout and cub scout leader Peter Theaker is looking for help to identify the players from this Evening Press team managed by his late father Jim.

One player (front row, second from left) will be familiar to most of our readers.

He is, of course, legendary former York City winger Billy Hughes – a member of the famous Happy Wanderers side that stunned the game by reaching the 1955 FA Cup semi-finals.

But Theaker would like to know who the other players are and what is the story behind the shield they are pictured with.
