Top Blues duel to test Leeds United

Leeds United go into tonight’s Capital One Cup clash with Premier League Everton off the back of a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest, writes Alex Finnis.

But Leeds suffered a blow mid-way through the second half when Lee Peltier was forced off with an ankle injury, and with striker Ross McCormack also out for two months with an ankle injury, Leeds will be hoping not to suffer any more knocks.

Everton, who dismantled Swansea City 3-0 to go third in the Premier League on Saturday, are expected to start a strong side at Elland Road.

Said assistant manager Steve Round: “The manager (David Moyes) won’t be taking this game lightly and you’ll see that with his team selection. He wants to win trophies for this club – that is our history and tradition.

“It also provides another route into Europe.”
