Darts: Walnut tilt cracks to Cueball’s power play

VICE-CAPTAIN Bev Harton of York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one champions-elect Cueball ‘B’ led from the front, but they were prevented from clearing the board by Walnut’s Clair Cooper.
Slipper captain Doreen Johnstone closed 117 as they fought hard at Clifton and might have taken home the points if they had been at full strength before Alison Walker and Carol Sykes Waller snatched victory.
Jo Hodges hit the tons for Tramways as they took home a 6-3 result from Flag.
Division two champions CH Ox ‘A’ had Danni Laycock top-scoring but they were denied a clean sheet by the Acomb ‘A’ final pairing of Kat Rankeillor and Rose Gray.
Bootham are hanging onto second place after they were pushed close by visitors Ox ‘B’. They held a 4-2 advantage entering the pairs where the club side came strong, Jane Barnes combining with captain Maureen Ferguson to secure the match points.
Turpin had Alison King and Pam Beilby securing victory after some good scoring from colleagues Laura Toomer and Carla Cuthbert against visitors Leeman ‘B’, whose Shelagh Kenny was a double-ton scorer.
Davina Shannon guided Severus ‘A’ to a fine 6-3 win at Edinburgh.
Severus ‘B’ are division three champions despite losing out to Woolpack’s final pairs Liz Jackson and Julia McKie in a thriller.
Second-placed Leeman ‘A’ were toppled by Shoulder ‘B’ with Joyce Kane and Lynn Humble snatching the win.
Third-placed Shepherd ‘A’ also fell 5-4 as Jubilee, who have a game in hand, had captain Heather Bulmer and Louise Warren sealing victory.
Despite good scoring from Dorothy Barker (2 x 100) and Judy Williams, Sun lost out as Shoulder ‘A’ came good in the pairs, as did Burton, whose Jaquie Woods top-scored.
