York RUFC beat the usually resilient North Ribblesdale 47-5 in Yorkshire One at Clifton Park.

Dawes settled the nerves early on with a well-struck penalty in the third minute.

But when Ben Mitchell went over in the corner after a superb line break by Boland North Ribb were in the lead and looking confident.

York struck back within a minute. Chris Fox broke the Ribb defence and offloaded to Billy Cakaunitabua to cross in the corner.

Pressure brings points and Sam Potrykus’ try was beautifully set up by two excellent offloads by his brother Freddie and Hamilton.

Soon after James Ward timed a break to cross for a 20-5 half-time lead.

The York pack looked fitter, bigger and stronger than Ribb and the York backs were beginning to move with freedom and probably the best try was scored by Tom Boyle when a series of interchanging down the touchline led to Boyle scoring.

Eddie Bradshaw started to break the line and his speed began to tell.

Bates scored from a rolling maul and then Boyle got his third try when again breaking from a maul after a scrum ended up over 90 degrees. Ribblesdale were out on their feet.

Hugh Nicholson’s pace proved too much for the visitors’ line and the Clifton Parkers finished the game when Bates scored his second try which Dawes converted.

Coach Sean Bass will be happy at a solid and deserved victory.
