Kevin Gall, who took a frame for Heworth ‘A’ only to see his side lose the decider
Heworth ‘B’ moved up three places to head the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK Snooker League as a result of trouncing Acomb ‘B’ 5-2.
Andy Proud, Roland Cox, with breaks of 31 and 22, Darren Colledge, who topped those efforts with runs of 38 and 24, Chris Thompson and Vic Gamble won the match before Acomb were able to reply through Jeff Winter (20 break) and Andy Stone.
Acomb ‘A’ dropped to second spot despite winning their third match on the trot by virtue of a last-frame victory over Heworth ‘A’.
The teams were level after wins by Jeff Brown, Gary Robinson and Keith Thornhill for Acomb and Steve Burdett, Kevin Gall and James Kilmartin for Heworth.
Paul Holmes defeated Clive Whyte in the last game to earn Acomb a 4-3 success.
Bootham ‘A’ were level at 3-3 with their bogie team Fulford ‘B’ only to lose the last frame and come a cropper again.
Jim Rollinson, John Adcock and Andy Hurley moved Fulford ahead against wins by Tim Fillingham, on the black ball, and Colin Robinson. Rob Barron, also on the black ball, levelled but Bob Smith was too good for Barry Rankin in the last game.
Malton ’s poor start continued as they went down 4-3 to Fulford ‘A’.
Tim Lister gave Fulford an ideal start with a 54 break and a 22 clearance. Pete Dunmore and James Lee made it 3-0 before Simon Weatherill, with a 25 clearance, and Andrew Sherry replied.
Mike Bailey (32 break) won the match for Fulford before Roger Ward took the last frame for Malton.
