Leeds United’s Ross McCormack loss frustrations

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has been hoping to bring in loan reinforcements after losing forward Ross McCormack for two months – but admits he might as well have “gone fishing” such have been his frustrations.

Scotland international McCormack injured an ankle in Saturday’s defeat at Cardiff.

Warnock had been hoping to bolster his squad ahead of tomorrow’s trip to seventh-placed Nottingham Forest.

He said: “We have to find one or two loan players now, but it isn’t easy because the ones I would have wanted have all gone somewhere.

“It’s been a waste of time on the phone if I’m being honest. I’ve not even had anything warm. It’s been ‘no, no, no’. I might as well go fishing and stick with the kids if that’s the case.”

Leeds travel to Forest off the back of two straight losses following Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at home to Hull.

Leeds took the lead through a Luciano Becchio penalty but then wasted several opportunities.

“We were our own worst enemies,” said Warnock. “We could have been two or three up. We had some good chances, and I know their goalie pulled off some good saves but you have to put them away.”
