York City pegged back by hosts Exeter City in npower League Two

YORK City were denied an away win by a late Exeter City equaliser in npower League Two.

The Minstermen led thanks to forward Michael Coulson's 52nd minute strike at St James' Park and looked to be heading for all three points against their high-flying hosts.

However, John O'Flynn levelled with six minutes remaining and, despite a late chance for Jason Walker, the game finished 1-1.

The result leaves Gary Mills' men in ninth place in the League Two table.

To get a draw and feel like we lost shows are not a bad side, we kept the points we would have been up in top 5 but still onwards and upwards!

KEEP THE FAITH! :-D

A draw is a respectable result at Exeter. Its no use feeling sorry for ourselves because they equalised. Both Chesterfield and Oxford were disappointed after our last two home games. But a bit of luck usually levels out during a season.

Settle for this result. A point gained against high flying Grecians.

Very respectable result away against a form team. Coulson is proving to be a valuable asset

That's a good point well earned. If Exeter had scored first and we had equalised in the last few minutes we'd feel like it was a victory. As it was, we scored first. Same result in the end.

We got a late goal last week and were delighted with a point at home Exeter got a late goal today and we are a little bit disappointed with only a point away against a team near the top - We York City fans are indeed a strange breed LOL

Another 2 points dropped! We're not going to get automatic promotion if we carry on like this.

I don't mean any offence by this but last season you were one of the most pesimistic and said York wouldn't be promoted. Therefore you implying that York gaining a point away against one of the favorites to win the league is a bad thing makes me think your opinion is 100% laughable.

No doubts about it, this is a good result for us and we would have settled for it prior to KO! Now, we need to prepare and focus on Wednesday night at Burton, against a side that looked on the TV highlights as if they were shooting on sight against Oxford United and everything was coming off for them! Time now to put them to the City test and for us to put in a performance that will yield us at least another away point and hopefully, all three!! COYR.

I was disappointed that we lost the lead so late but would have settled for a point against them, given their previous record. See Oxford have shipped a lot of goals in the last few games!

Great performance - you did us proud - long trip in a day 627 miles round trip but worth it to see a sterling performance from the side. Danny off the boil today, as was Charlie Taylor - return of Paddy made us more compact - nice to see Scott Kerr back with the squad, can't wait to see him back in the starting line. Michael Coulson - what a signing - looks to have goal in him every time he goes forward- Cool finish yesterday, or should it be 'Coul'. Bring on Burton. Looking forward to the trips to Torquay and Plymouth like a hole in the head!!!!!

While its always disapointing to give away a late goal that a very good points against a strong team. The away form continues to be our biggest strength following on from last season. Still think we need Kerr back but I'm not sure who Mills will drop to accommodate him. Parslow would be the obvious choice but Mills does like him there.

pretty much every team we are playing at the moment seem to be either tipped to do well or in a rich vein of form or both(no offence at all intended with the possible exception of Barnet) but i suppose thats just one part of thankfully being back in the league,Burton are certainly banging in plenty of goals so wednesday will be another stern test, early doubts after the first game against wycombe should be put to the back of our mind now, we seem capable of giving as good as we get from some good teams already.

It was a 'tongue in cheek' comment but you're wrong about calling me a pessimist. I've never been anything other than supportive of City but if I've not liked what I've seen on matchday I say so.

If you check my posts from this time last year, you'll find that I said we were playing some of the best football that I've ever seen and that it was a good time to be a City fan.

Burton is a tougher game than it was set to be a few weeks ago, i fancied them to struggle this season, but that win against Oxford certainly has made me think twice!
Mind you, the goals they scored yesterday surely can't be repeated! a couple of 'worldy' strikes in there, Calvin Zola the danger man upfront.
Personally they're another team who we owe one to. That boxing day game a few years ago, I remember seeing one of the most boring teams ever to win the conference and was just amazed at how they could get promotion. We saved a point at Morecambe, beat Oxford...there's only Burton, Accrington and Dagenham left to gain my own childish revenge on!

Shame on you, you should know by now you're not allowed to have an opinion if it's not seen as positive.

A good point at Exeter at the end of the day-no doubt Ex would have expected their winning run to continue against new boys City but were made to think again-The good thing is City are holding their own in this League and will be no pushover-Michael Coulson proving to be a gem of a signing.

Good solid point at Exeter, considering Exeter's last two excellent performances. The point will look even better with a result at Burton Albion on Wednesday.Keep it up!

Well played City. A bit of a blow when Barry Parker announced the equaliser so near to the end but we nearly pinched it again in the dying seconds. Good to hear that Scott Kerr was a member of the party and could soon be back even if it is going to present a dilemma for Gary Mills with his team selection. I pay tribute to all those 182 supporters who made a round trip of over 600 miles to support their team. Another big game on Wednesday but the away form is holding up so Burton could be another 'upset'. One of the most pleasing aspects of this City squad is their fitness levels and so credit to all those responsible.

Does anyone know when the Burton fixture was changed from Tues 18/09 to Wed 19/09 and what the reason was?

Because Derby County are playing on the Tuesday. Burton is only about 12 miles from Derby and a lot of the suppporters watch both teams so the game was switched to Wednesday several weeks ago "apparently" but I don't know at who's request. Come on City in Mills I trust

Re the burton game, i too had it down as tuesday. Where was the update ??????????.. perhaps it was given out through the P.A system during the oxford game at home, and if so, it wasnt working in the longhurst stand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

turfman, i have been moaning about the P.A system for long enough. Last season it was as clear as a bell, this season we are talking a different story! Get it sorted, we are a league club, there were times during the Oxford game when people in the main stand were clapping, supporters in the Longhurst were bemused! Could it have been the man of the match, the attendance, or the fact that someone's car was about to be removed for ilegal parking!
