Repeat fires York Cricket Club dream

FOND memories give York Cricket Club captain Dan Woods cause for optimism ahead of their ECB National Club Championship final on Sunday.
With a sixth successive Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier League crown in the bag, Woods will look to lead the Clifton Parkers to their first national knockout trophy in 37 years against Wanstead & Snaresbrook at Derbyshire’s County Ground (11am).
Woods revealed the stadium was a familiar place for himself and leading run-scorer Duncan Snell, with the pair having played there for Leeds/Bradford against the Derbyshire first team three years ago.
“I would expect that to help us,” he said. “We stayed in the same hotel we will stay in tomorrow night and we know how the ground plays.
“It’s interesting that Derby’s County Championship game is on Sky so everyone is watching that to try to find out which wicket we will be playing on.
“Duncan has got very good memories of that ground. He got out the West Indian batsman Wavell Hinds so it obviously brings back some happy memories.”
