York Volleyball Club opener

YORK Volleyball Club get their season under way on Sunday.
In National League division three north, York kick off with a triangular fixture against Kingsthorpe, of Northampton, and Nottingham Rockets 2 at the University of York sports centre.
New signings German Georgiev, a Bulgarian student, and ex-St John student Dan Vivash will be making their debuts, while Adam Meszczynski is returning to the club from Boathouse Dewsbury.
York will also send a side to Sheffield in the Yorkshire Premier League.
Albert Severin has dropped down from the National League team, while Jamie Thompson and Klaudiusz Szajczyk are moving up from the third team and there should be debuts for new recruits Oswin Wan and Italian Alberto Dascanio.
Matches for the third team and the club’s two women’s teams start later this month.
The club are still on the look out for new members. There are Go Spike beginners’ sessions on Friday nights at Huntington School , with men’s training on Tuesdays at Energise and women’s training on Thursdays at York College .
There is also dedicated junior training (under-14s) at Millthorpe School on Tuesdays.
