Taylor-made hat-trick keeps Wigginton Grasshoppers out in front

Wigginton Grasshoppers are setting the pace in division one of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League after brushing aside Skelton 5-0.

’Hoppers led 1-0 at half-time courtesy of a Terry Taylor strike and they took control after the break with Taylor completing his hat-trick while Dan Zambelli and Tom Nicholson also hit the target.

Reigning champions Station were toppled 6-3 by newly-promoted King William.

Neil Ducey scored twice for King William, with Danny Leach, Luke Hall, Thomas Bissett and Mark Willoughby also netting, while Station’s scorers were Tony Wetherall (2) and Michael Braithwaite.

Hounds prop up the table after losing 1-0 to ten-man Severus. Chris Storey was the scorer.

Mark Powell struck the only goal of the game to give Acomb Celtic a 1-0 win over Enterprise.

In division two, Beeswing’s 3-1 win over Marcia Grey included goals from Mark Burton, Steve Dagnell, from the penalty spot, and Myron Turbine. Steve Pickup was Marcia’s goal-getter.

Bubwith Nomads went down 3-2 against Hambleton. Kieran Hartnell and Craig Rowden netted for Nomads, but Nigel Croad, Dan Smith and Kane Snelson won it for Hambleton.

Haxby Lions claimed their first points of the campaign with a 4-0 win over York Nomads.

Hat-tricks from Alex McKay and Kevin Martin helped New Earswick to a 9-0 win over Shoulder of Mutton in division four. Lee Topping scored twice and Paul Firth also scored.

Kingsley Wetherald was Tadcaster Magnet’s man of the match in a 4-1 win at Barlby, netting twice and having a hand in both the other goals. Dominic Jones hit the lone reply.

Britannia Tadcaster beat Drax 4-0, thanks to a hat-trick by Adam Simeonides and a Callum Annett-Wiloughby goal.

NUR were 2-0 winners over Selby Railway thanks to two Danny Cotton goals.

F3 beat Eggborough 3-1 with goals from Alex Welburn, Mark Foster and Ben Davitt.
