Bowls: Open day lead to repeat show
9:51am Thursday 13th September 2012 in Sport
YORK & District Indoor Bowls Club are to hold another open day on Saturday.
The event, from 10am to 3pm, follows last week’s successful day in which people were invited to try the game.
Run in conjunction with the Bowls Development Association’s ‘Bring A Friend’ initiative, everyone attending on Saturday will be entered in the BDA’s draw to have a chance to win a holiday at Potters Bowls resort in Norfolk.
More than 100 people attended the club’s annual meeting – the largest attendance at a club AGM for more than 20 years.
The vote resulted in six new faces joining the executive committee, which comprises Graham Brooke, Mike Bruce, Brian Hodgson, Andy Humphreys, Graham Instone, Mike Parker, Phil Parsons, David Stroughair, Gordon Walker and Helen Walker alongside Joan Jackson, the club’s first female chair, Colin Sharpley (president), Peter Witty (vice-chair), Roy Colebourn (vice-president) and Barry Potter (treasurer).
