Yorkshire hit the front in County Championship division two title race
3:36pm Wednesday 12th September 2012 in Sport By Chris Parrott
YORKSHIRE have temporarily gone top of division two in the LV= County Championship.
This is after they took three wickets in the afternoon session on day two of their match at Essex to reduce their hosts to 138-6 in their first-innings.
It means the county have now picked up enough bonus points from the contest to go above Derbyshire in the live league table.
Azeem Rafiq was the first to strike in the first over of the session to remove Owais Shah for four, before Steven Patterson and Ryan Sidebottom ousted James Foster and Adam Wheater respectively for 16.
Ryan ten Doeschate impressed to reach the interval unbeaten on 60, with Graham Napier on 13.
At tea, Essex still trailed Yorkshire by 174 runs.
