Volleyball revels in Olympic fever

YORK Volleyball Club are hoping to tap into the fervour created by the London 2012 Olympic Games and attract new players to the sport.

The club offer sessions for men and women across a range of ages and abilities, from recreational players right up to the National Volleyball League.

Pre-seaon training is now under way with sessions for York Volleyball’s five adult teams, juniors and recreational players.

Club spokesman Mike Turner said: “Come and play one of the best sports around. Volleyball is loads of fun and a very social game.

“It’s the only hi-energy, zero body contact, mixed team sport you can play indoors and outdoors whatever your ability.

“Now is a great time to give volleyball a go and find out why it is one of the top three most-played sports in the world.”

Anyone interested can attend the club’s Go Spike sessions, held every Friday at Huntington School .
